Chist, i’m bored., originally uploaded by nathanleefloats.
As i guess is the case all over the uk at the moment, it’s chucking it down here and has been since mid morning.
I took a walk in to town, through the drizzle, and once i arrived was assaulted with a downpour which has persisted. Soaking wet with rain water dribbling past my eyes and down my face, i sought refuge in a hardware store. Leaving with a towel bought for 1.99, i dried my face and de saturated my hair.
I needed something to do. Sitting on the boat playing with the computer wasn’t an option. It consumes 6amps and i have no shore power. There was only one remedy to my damp situation. The pub!
I’ve nursed a sigle pint of tennents for the last hour and a half, and read every word of the times.
I’ve just slugged the last gulp, and staring out the window in to the dismal scene outside, am wondering what to do.
The poor road looks in a bad way. Maybe i can buy another beer, for him…

Sorry to here that “Bill” is causing you grief. It will ease later.
We have a slight breeze here in southern England with a temperature of 26°C with sunshine.
Your weather window is best ‘only’ on Thursday lunchtime for 6 to 8 hours but don’t get lulled into a false dawn as the weather will pick up with stronger north-westerlies (Force 6/7 touching Gale Force 8 with squalls) setting in on Thursday evening through to at least Sunday when there will be another lull.

Take care

why don’t you join Couchsurfing.com ( free) and look up a contact or place to crash at each place visited….. there are two nice people in Abroath listed and apart from a nice person to show you the local area you might be able to dry out too
Yes but which town? I hope you have made it to Peterhead and from the look of the pub that seems likely. Get yersel to Whitehills as soon as the weather serves, much nicer spot altogether.
Would you rather be in a stuffy office in central London, struggling with an uncooperative Ruby on Rails instance…would you? WOULD YOU?!?!? Maybe you would. Anyway. I will echo the desire of many other comment-makers by saying that I wish your site made it clearer where you were an any given time, if for no other reason than we could make suggestions when you say you are bored. Like now. Are you in Arbroath still? It looks like they have a decent library with an art gallery above it. Open until 2000. And there’s the Arbroath Signal Tower Museum (free, open until 1700), which looks fascinating. I would definitely check it out if I were there. In any case, hope you get over your boredom, and that the weather improves so you can get underway again.
Oh, and, have you read Libby Purves’ book about her family’s circumnavigation of Britain, One Summers’ Grace? If nothing else it will make you thankful you don’t have small children on board! A good read. I’ve got an extra copy of it I’d be happy to send you.
I’ll be moving my newly acquired Corribee, Davaar, from Portknockie to Inverness Marina over the weekend depending on the weather. I’ll keep an eye out…
Nice pub but where are the girls?
Ok. Consider it done. I’ll add a location tag at the top of the blog.
It’s a bit of a pain to do on wordpress.com, but I don’t have the time to port it all over to my own hosting. I may need reminding to update it for a while, but I’ll soon get used to it.
All the best,
Nathan
I think they’ve all gone to wait for me in Preston. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why I never seem to meet any.
Ooh! yes! I didn’t notice this suggestion yesterday, but I second it wholeheartedly. I’ve had some fantastic experiences with Couchsurfing.
excellent service! would read this blog again. *****
