Looks pretty, doesn’t she., originally uploaded by nathanleefloats.
Low water is 9:40. Should be able to get in the harbour at 11. Not looking forward to that surf coming back. She got dropped so hard on her keels. I am worried about hidden damage that will show itself when i’m next out.
So, all my bedding is wet, i have no clothes left, i’m stood here, wet and cold, and have a whole night of being wet to look forward to. I’m not happy. I wouldn’t have come in unless advised i could.
Not in the best of moods this evening.

Which harbour are you coming into Nathan?
bummer.
Wet you may be, at least your safe. Kudu should be okay as it was sand and not rock! – phone us as soon as you are safe in harbour, clothes you can always dry. Know a good chandler if you need help!! ( made jenny turn to the scotch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
stay safe old chap – best wishes

“Only two sailors, in my experience, never ran aground. One never left port and the other was an atrocious liar.”
Glad you’re safe, well done
Bummer for you…but on sand as soft as that she should be fine despite the inevitable bumping once the tide floats off. Remember, she’s designed for it. I’m guessing you’ve the got the anchor laid in the right direction to kedge her off if she needs help – hard to tell from the pic – but keep an eye on the rudder and the outboard leg. Hope your night isn’t too long, let us know how things go.
As lenseman ybw says everyone has gone aground and as suggested Kudu was built for it. Where are you now and can we have details of the passage which sounds character building.
at least Kudu looks pretty – even I have gone aground old boy – get the fishing line out. Hope you got back in ok..Im off to Nice this afternoon – sod all wind there, perhaps I can have some of yours!
She does indeed look good, and it sounds like you had an interesting passage too! Always good to stretch the comfort zone!
If it helps if that was my boat i would of fell over!! a whole night of sitting at 50degrees!
Fin keels might have some benifits but grounding is definately not one of them!
Tough luck. Hopefully no damage done. Sounds like a interesting passage! Look forward to reading about it.
Glad you’re safe Nathan.
First time I went aground was on lake Windermere. No tides! How sad is that!? Had to get towed off a rock I was slowly pirouetting on!
Any news yet from anyone ?? Did Nathan and KUDO get in OK unscathed ??
Finally found a cafe with an internet connection.
Yes, I got in ok. Wasn’t a particularly pleasant event, but apparently no harm was done.
Very funny reading this wee story about you running aground, as that night you were drinking with colin (assisstant HM) and shane etc i thought they were joking about you running aground(i popped in for a swifty mind?wee bairn strapped on to the back of my bike). Not a bad thing though when you run aground and the boat stays intact but YOU get wrecked gratis of the assisstant harbour master etc. I will need to take my boat out this week and do the same to see if I can score some drink off him aswell. We will be following your progress, as one of the coastguards that attended had informed me of your blog. keep the sky above your head and the sea below your feet but most of all keep your boat off the rocks AND when heading into the harbour follow the line of the pier as tht what its there to do. Happy travels Nathan from Dave the brother of the assisstant harbour master Colin.
