Having trouble getting into bridlington. Sea and wind picked up from the south. Hm suggested we wait for the tide to turn, presumably to slow us down a bit. Kudu is now a surfboard.

WOW! Has it been like that all day??
You raving lunatic glad it`s not me ha ha!
Welcome to Bridlington!
Home of Contessa 26 Red Admiral, currently being prepared for the Jester Challenge 2010.
Guy.
Blue grounded near to the Wells Approach buoy at about 0300 and broke its rudder. Managed to tow her back in at 1630 hours. Both safe and well after a long night at anchor. Looks a bit more moderate than slight from that photo…
Hi Pete,
I’ve not had an internet connection from the laptop for a couple of days. Sorry to hear this. When did it happen? When you overtook me I saw you heading out VERY close to number 1 buoy, which is right on the sandbank. By the time I would have set the auto pilot and gone below to fetch the radio you had passed it. I presume, since you didn’t turn toward the fairway buoy that you already had rudder damage?
The important thing is you got back in unharmed. What’s the plan of action now? As far as i remember the hoist at Wells has a 7.5 ton limit, and I’m guessing your boat weighs a touch more. I’m sure Bob will sort something out for you. Let me know how you get on.
All the best,
Nathan
Hi Nathan
Blue is skippered by Paul (with the help of his sone Ben) who we befriended when we got to Wells. Sadly, I only met up with you a day or so before you left (I’m on Gold Coaster that was moored behind Kudu). I don’t quite know what happened to Paul, he said he became disorientated at the time. Although he lost all steerage at the time, the boat seems to have since fixed herself (wish I could find a boat like that) maybe the rudder was re-engaged when she re-floated. Anyhow, he is popping home to Newark by car for some creature comforts today with a view to returning to Wells Wednesday and trying again for Scarborough where Blue is berthed..
Congratulations on your progress against the odds and I hope Whitby lives up to your expectations.
Cheers for now
Pete
