Nathan,
Wheres the next stop?
jono
Wicked, looks like you have a good day for it, just a sea trial or are you off on your travels??
It was ok. Wind ended up a steady 20 knots in the end, with 24 knot gusts. I only had one reef in so it was a bit tippy. I was going to put another in, but was due to turn and come back so never bothered. Still. All is well though. The weather is not looking clement tomorrow.
Good stuff! I hope to be surveying the world from a similar viewpoint around this time next week…
yeah, Go Nath! Great pic, another one for my calendar next year. Take care
Well done! Friday’s looking better…

Great picture, what does a reef do? Glad you and Kudu are back in the water hope the next trip goes well and everything works!
Mother, I am worried you have got a bit carried away with this internet lark. You’re quite welcome to communicate via telephone too, you know. :p
However, to answer your question, a reef is either something naughty people smoke, or the act of making your sails smaller. There are many way to do it, but I have a roller furling headsail, and a single line slab reefing main, although it only has two reef points and that’s not enough for heavy weather… also, the genoa is too big, so in all, if it’s windy, I ain’t going out.
I`m learning new skills, life in the old girl yet!
hi nathan,
ain’t it joyous to feel the wee boat come alive again in her natural element!
when i got my new mainsaiil made last year, i had a third reef put in after i read of a fellow corribee owner being caught out in a F8 gale with only 2 reefs – it was most unpleasant by his account. i haven’t had to use it yet, but its reassuring to know that its there.
also, got the genoa re-cut to take out the bag, and had a foam pad put in the luff to help it set better when reefed, and its soooo much better now.
when you can, its worth spending money on sails!
Great stuff glad to see you back in track.
All the best X
Um Correction
I meant back on Track
