Sailing Videos
I'm not an experienced video producer, indeed, when I set off on my Round Britain bid in 2009, I had never edited any video at all,
but I did have one thing in mind; it can't be boring. There are far too many short, unedited, unnarrated, tedious shots of the bow of a boat on youtube and I
didn't want to copy them.
I wanted to portray what it is really like to set sail on a fairly daunting voyage for a totally inexperienced sailor. I wanted to show the guts of adventure, the unknown, the mistakes, the fear.
I wanted to do this without actually knowing what I was doing with video, so it may have been a slightly bigger undertaking than I could manage, but I certainly tried.
Don't expect to find the glossy image of the perfect escapism dream here, because you won't find it. This is the reality of what happened when a novice sailor bit off more than he could chew.

Deep Water
Done by the folks behind the excellent mountaineering epic, Touching the Void, this is a true account of the famous Golden Globe race - the event that prepended Sir, to Robin Knox-Johnston. Rather than concentrate on the glory, the producers have opted to cover a lesser known competitor, Donald Crowhurst. This is a tragic tale with some excellent filming. A must see for any sailor.
